Honeypot Day Nursery

Policies & Procedures

The nursery operates under a set of formalised policies and procedures.  Some key points are noted here, but at the bottom of the page are links to each of the policy documents relevant to parents and their children.  A hard copy of the full set of policies and procedures can be found near the rear parent noticeboard.

Behaviour

Honeypot Nursery firmly believes that children flourish best when they know how they are expected to behave. Children gain respect through interaction with caring adults who show them respect and value their individual personalities. Positive, caring and polite behaviour will be encouraged and praised at all times in an environment where children learn to respect themselves, other people and their surroundings.

Children need to have set boundaries of behaviour for their own safety and the safety of their peers. Within the nursery we aim to set these boundaries in a way, which helps the child to develop a sense of the significance of their own behaviour, both in their own environment and those around them. Restrictions on the child's natural desire to explore and develop their own ideas and concepts are kept to a minimum.

By positively promoting good behaviour, valuing co-operation and a caring attitude we hope to ensure that children will develop as responsible members of society.

Key Person

Each child in the setting will be assigned a key person. The key person has special responsibilities for working with a small number of children, giving them the reassurance to feel safe and cared for and building relationships with their parents. The key person will help the baby or child to become familiar with the setting and to feel confident and safe within it. They will also talk to parents to make sure the needs of the children are being met by the setting appropriately, and that records of development and progress are shared with parents and other professionals as necessary.

Parents can speak to the key person at any time on any matter concerning their child.

Famly

Each child will be given an account on our nursery management system, Famly, which will be used to record observations, photographs and development. The Learning Journal on Famly is a two way communication, so please add any observations that you feel would be helpful. We believe this to be  a vital link between home and Honeypot Day Nursery, and is also used for general comunications and billing.  On a weekly basis, a snapshot of the previous week will be uploaded for parents to see what thier child has been doing.  We do not do this 'live' because it is important that when working with the children, high quality interactions take palce, rather than writing in the journal.

For our younger children, Famly also records how much they have eaten, sleep patterns, soiled/wet nappies and what they have done during the day.

Bottle/Breast Feeding

If your child is bottle fed, please provide the Nursery with the prepared bottles, clearly labelling them with you child’s name.  You are very welcome to pop in and breast feed your baby at any time.
